A sample lecture from this course is available to non-members to view below and you can also download the 2009 course program. If you are a member, please click here to view the all the course lectures - you will need to log in to the website.

An advanced course will be held in 2010 from 5-6 February. If you are interested in participating please email congress@isuog.org for further information and to join the mailing list

The ISUOG Organised course on Congenital Anomalies and Fetal Echocardiography held in London from 23 - 25 January 2009 was recorded and the lectures are now available for ISUOG members and course delegates to view.

At the end of the two and a half day program delegates should have a basic broad knowledge of ultrasound screening for congenital anomalies and a comprehensive understanding of how to assess the fetal heart and screen for congenital heart disease.  The traditional lecture program is complemented by evening sessions which allow delegates to explore clinical cases in more detail.

Course objectives:
1. Recognise the basic settings and the techniques needed to correctly assess fetal anatomy in general and the fetal heart, both in a screening and in a diagnostic setting
2. Know the content of the documents on the guidelines for fetal central nervous system and cardiac screening proposed by the ISUOG Fetal Neurosonography and Echocardiography Task Forces
3. Know how to perform a comprehensive screening of fetal anomalies including in particular congenital heart disease and be aware of the different methods proposed in the literature with advantages and disadvantages
4. Recognize and discriminate in between the major features of cerebral, facial, thoracic, abdominal and skeletal anomalies
5. Recognise the echocardiographic features of major congenital heart diseases
6. Recognise the diagnostic role of Colour Doppler in the detection of congenital heart disease
7. Recognise the differential aneuploidy risk associated with fetal anomalies in the fetus
8. Have a basic knowledge of the outcomes of the different congenital anomalies including in particular congenital heart diseases
9. Recognise the possible role of fetal 3D and 4D in the assessment of extra-cardiac anomalies
10.Recognise the possible role of 4D-echocardiography in the diagnosis of congenital heart disease in the fetus
