Virtual Issues

Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology invite you to enjoy the following free virtual issues that have been compiled by the Journal's Editorial team:

The Dawn of UOG

In celebration of the 25th year of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, this virtual issue brings together a collection of 25 significant papers, including a range of our top downloaded and top cited articles from 2015 and a selection of articles from its first year of publication in 1991, to illustrate how far imaging in maternal-fetal medicine and gynecology has advanced and promote our transition to an online Journal.

The evolution of ultrasound in urogynecology

Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology has been instrumental in popularizing the diagnostic modality of pelvic floor ultrasound in urogynecology. This Virtual Issue cites 26 of the most influential papers in urogynecological ultrasound since 1986, including a selection of 20 papers from UOG between 1992 and 2008. The selection contains some of the most frequently quoted original papers that we have published and several review articles that have helped to establish the diagnostic method of pelvic floor (or translabial/perineal) ultrasound. For historical reasons we have also included the very first urogynecological ultrasound papers printed in the ‘White Journal’, even though they are rarely quoted today. Stuart Campbell, the Founding Editor of UOG, was largely responsible for promoting many of those first tentative steps in a field without precedents, rules and sympathetic reviewers, and many of us owe him an incalculable debt of gratitude. It is only fitting that this volume should be dedicated to him.

Uterine Doppler

The mid-80s to the mid-90s was a golden age for ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology, with the maturation of anomaly scanning, and the introduction of nuchal screening, laser ablation as a potential therapy, fetal Doppler for the management of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and the use of uterine artery (UtA) Doppler for the prediction of uteroplacental complications later in the pregnancy.
