FAQs - General

Why is the Congress going virtual: ISUOG’s World Congress plays an important part in contributing to the science and education in the field of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology. Circumstances in 2020 relating to the Coronavirus have created uncertainty relating to global travel and with the requirement for social distancing, the Society has decided to move the Congress online to continue to serve the scientific and educational needs of its community. 

What are the Virtual Congress dates: The Congress will take place over 3 days from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October 2020. After the live Virtual Congress, content will be available to watch on-demand for a month. Access to this content will be included in the registration fee. 

What language will the Virtual Congress be: The official language of the Congress will be English. Some elements of the programme may have translation or be conducted in another language, this will be confirmed nearer the time.

FAQs - Registration

Can I transfer my registration from the Glasgow Congress to the Virtual Congress: If you have already registered for the Glasgow Congress, your registration will be automatically transferred and the difference in fees refunded to you; you do not have to take any action regarding this.

Can I cancel my registration if I registered for the Glasgow Congress but am unable to attend the Virtual Congress: If you already registered but cannot attend, please email us (registration@isuog.org) before 30 June 2020 to be refunded in full. Cancellations received between 1 July 2020 until 17 September 2020 will be refunded less an administration charge of £60. For cancellations received after 17 September 2020, the standard Congress Terms and Conditions will apply.

I registered for a Pre-Congress course, will that still go ahead: ISUOG will postpone all Pre-Congress courses. Delegates who have already registered will be refunded in full. We will send out an email notification when the Pre-Congress courses have been rescheduled.

What are the registration benefits, terms and conditions for new registrations to the Virtual Congress: See our registration pages for detailed information. 

I always pay onsite in cash as I do not have a credit card, how can I pay now that the Congress is virtual: ISUOG is unable to accept cash for the Virtual World Congress. Participants must pay by credit card. Exceptions will be made, only in special circumstances, to accept bank transfers (please contact registration@isuog.org). Delegates whose transfers are not received into ISUOG’s bank account by the start date of the Virtual Congress will not be permitted to access the content.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance, how is this processed: ISUOG will provide certificates of attendance to delegates after delegates complete an online evaluation of the Congress.

FAQs - Travel and accommodation

Am I entitled to a refund of my travel and accommodation costs: If you have reserved your accommodation and/or travel for Glasgow, please contact your hotel, travel agent, airline and/or travel insurance provider directly to arrange cancellation/reimbursement. 

FAQs - Abstracts

I have already submitted my abstract, do I need to re-submit this: No, you do not need to resubmit. If you have already submitted an abstract, your abstract will automatically transfer to be reviewed for the Virtual Congress, you do not need to do anything at this stage. You will be notified by July 2020 if your abstract has been accepted for presentation or not.

Will new abstract submissions be considered for the Virtual Congress: Yes, a second deadline of 22 June 2020 has been set to allow researchers to submit new or additional abstracts for review.

Will the deadline for presenting authors to register be extended: Yes. To receive the presenting author £50 discount, you must register and pay the registration fee by 17 August 2020. After this date standard registration fees will apply.

Will my abstract still be published and presented if I cannot attend the Congress: No, all presenting authors whose abstract has been accepted, must be registered (and registration fee paid) by 17 August 2020 for their abstract to be published and presented.

If I am unable to present at the Virtual Congress, will I receive a refund of my registration fee: Please see the registration pages where cancellation fees are explained.

If my abstract is accepted for presentation, how will I present it virtually: You will be provided with information on how to present your abstract (most likely with pre-recorded presentation or pre-submitted poster) within the Virtual Congress, at a later date.

Will there be a book of abstracts: ISUOG will produce an online book of abstracts. ISUOG is also exploring options to sell a printed book of abstracts to delegates if delegates select this option, and post them to their home address. Further details will be provided as soon as possible.

Will ISUOG still offer the Travel Grant: Whilst there are no opportunities for travel, ISUOG will still offer abstract presenters who qualify, the opportunity to apply to register for free to attend the Virtual World Congress.

Will there still be opportunities for Top Abstract and Young Investigator categories: The Scientific Committee are working to finalise the detailed program and more information on this and Top Abstract and Young Investigator categories will be available on our website in August when the abstract program is finalised.

FAQs - Program

What is the program for the virtual Congress: ISUOG’s Scientific Committee are finalising the Congress program, working hard to ensure that the program showcases best practise and the latest developments in ultrasound for obstetrics and gynecology, for all training and professional levels around the world. More detail will be available on our website in June/July 2020.

I was an invited speaker for the Glasgow program, am I still in the program: If you were a confirmed invited speaker for the Glasgow program, we hope that you can still contribute to the Virtual Congress program. The ISUOG events team will be in contact with you individually to confirm this. If you have any questions, please contact congress@isuog.org.

In what time zone will the program be presented virtually: ISUOG is currently working on the program and how to ensure that a mixture of pre-recorded and live elements can allow delegates from all over the world to make the most out of the program, and engage with the content. There will still be Q&As and other opportunities for ‘live’ interaction. More detail will be available on our website in June/July 2020.

Will I be able to access the Virtual Congress, after the live dates: After the live Virtual Congress, the content will be available to watch on demand for a limited period of time. Access to this content will be included in the registration fee. 

Will CME be available: ISUOG is aiming to provide CME credits, and is in discussions with accreditors about this. More details will follow shortly.

FAQs - Sponsors and Exhibitors

Will I still be entitled to the same package/booth reservation I have already made: Every sponsor and exhibitor that has already booked an activity, is invited to transfer this to the Virtual Congress. ISUOG is in contact with relevant companies individually, but in case you have not yet been notified, please contact us at congress@isuog.org and we will be pleased to discuss this further with you.

Will there be new packages available: Yes. ISUOG is working on a new prospectus of packages. This will include the ‘usual’ items such as sponsored symposia, branding and advertising opportunities, and (virtual) exhibition packages, as well as new options enabled by the virtual platform. We will share the new virtual prospectus as soon as possible for potential sponsors and exhibitors to review. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact congress@isuog.org.

FAQs - Virtual user experience

Is it essential to participate in the Virtual Congress using a computer/laptop: We are planning for the Virtual Congress platform to be web-based, and accessible on computer, laptop, tablet or phone. We shall send further details, including user-guides, at a later date.

Will there be a Congress App for viewing the programme, generating my own schedule and contacting other delegates: We are planning for the Virtual Congress platform to be user-friendly and offer full programme, scheduling, exhibition, networking and communications functions in one place, so an App in addition will not be necessary. We shall send further details, including user-guides, at a later date. 

What if I have technical difficulties, during the Virtual Congress: We will share user instructions and how-to guides prior to the Congress, to enable registered delegates to make the most of their participation in the Virtual Congress and to trouble-shoot any possible common technical issues. We will also provide customer-support to delegates during the live Virtual Congress.

We will miss the Congress Party, will there be any networking opportunities: We know that the ISUOG World Congress networking events play an important part in keeping ISUOG members connected and motivated, and in forging and maintaining friendships amongst ISUOG members. The ISUOG events team is therefore working hard to plan social and networking opportunities within the Virtual Congress. These will be free for all registered delegates to attend. We shall keep you updated via our website and Congress communications.  

FAQs - AGM and committee meetings

I usually attend the AGM, will this be held during the Virtual Congress: No, ISUOG will invite all members to a virtual AGM in 2020, to be held on dates that are still to be determined. We shall keep you updated via our member communications.   

Will ISUOG committee meetings still take place during the Virtual Congress: No, these will be organised with all Committees and Task Forces on separate dates. Please refer to your Committee or Task Force liaison for more information.
