Overview

Ilan Timor-Tritsch, MD, is a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist at The Mount Sinai Hospital in the Raquel and Jaime Gilinski Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Timor-Tritsch has special interest in gynecologic ultrasound, first-trimester ultrasound, and cesarean pregnancy.

Dr. Timor-Tritsch joined Mount Sinai after serving as Director of the Ultrasound Unit for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel and his fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Timor-Tritsch has been published extensively on topics such as transvaginal sonographic evaluation of the fetal central nervous system, cesarean pregnancy, and gynecologic ultrasound. He is the recipient of the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine’s Joseph H. Holmes Clinical Pioneer Award, the Fry Award by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Ian Donald Medal by the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Timor-Tritsch has taught residents and doctors for more than 20 years, presenting at various seminars for the Annual Meeting for the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Timor-Tritsch is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the New York Perinatal Society.

Prof. Amarnath Bhide is currently Consultant in Obstetrics and fetal Medicine at the St. George’s Hospital in London, United Kingdom. He is a lead clinician for the Day Assessment Unit and honorary Senior Lecturer at St. George’s University of London. He is the co-director of the MFM sub-speciality program. He is a scientific editor of BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and member of the editorial board for three other journals. 

He received basic training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Mumbai, India, and subspeciality training in the UK. He Obtained a PhD from a Norwegian university. 

His research interests are in placental physiology and pathology, hypoxaemia and fetal cardiac function. His clinical interests are in invasive prenatal diagnosis and therapy, multiple pregnancy and problems with fetal growth. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles and 17 book chapters. He has co-authored four books. He holds research collaborations with Karolinska University (Sweden), University of Oulu (Finland) and University of Tromso (Norway). He receives grant funding from UK National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).

Prof Conrado Milani Coutinho is Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a senior consultant in Maternal Fetal Medicine. His special interests are in the use of ultrasound for the prediction, prevention, and diagnosis of fetal and placental anomalies, as well as major obstetric syndromes. Prof Coutinho holds MSc and PhD degrees in Tocogynecology from the University of São Paulo and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Fetal Medicine at St. George’s University Hospital, London, UK. 

Prof Conrado is a postgraduate supervisor at his institution, president of the Perinatology Committee at the Brazilian Federation of ObGyn (FEBRASGO), associate editor of RBGO Gynecology and Obstetrics, and serves on the ISUOG Clinical Standards Committee and Educational Courses Subcommittee.

Dr. Afshar is a physician-scientist with clinical and research interests that intersect and include high-risk pregnancy, prenatal ultrasound, genetic testing, placentation, and congenital heart disease, either affecting the mother or fetus. She is the co-director of the UCLA Cardio Obstetrics program and manages care for pregnancies complicated by cardiovascular dsiease and congenital heart disease. Her laboratory is focused on clinically relevant reserach to improve the care and biological understanding of normal and abnormal placentation in order to improve the care of pregnant people and their babies.

Dr. Afshar is a recipient of a National Institute of Health Reproductive Scientist Award, among a multitude of other grants. Her laboratory, The Afshar Lab at UCLA, is focused on congenital heart disease and placentation, among other translational pregnancy related topics

Andrea Kaelin Agten is Consultant in Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi and Assistant Professor in Maternal Fetal Medicine at United Arab Emirates University, UAEU, United Arab Emirates.  Dr Andrea is the lead for placenta accreta spectrum imaging at Corniche Hospital.

Her research interests are Caesarean Scar Pregnancy and Placenta accreta spectrum. She is the chief investigator of the international Caesarean scar pregnancy registry. Her clinical interests are invasive prenatal diagnosis and therapy, fetal pathology, fetal growth problems and multiple pregnancy. Dr Rozi Aditya Aryananda, MD, PhD, is a distinguished Indonesian obstetrician and gynaecologist specializing in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Francesco D’Antonio, MD, PhD, is a professor and consultant in maternal-fetal medicine at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Chieti, Italy. Dr. D’Antonio has previously worked in the Fetal Medicine Unit at St. George's Hospital, London, UK, in the High-risk Pregnancy Unit at Catholic University of The Sacred Heart Hospital, Rome, Italy and in the University Hospital of Northern Norway, Tromsø. D’Antonio is in the Editorial Board of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Professor Eric Jauniaux, MD, PhD, FRCOG, is Professor in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine, EGA Institute for Women’s Health (IfWH), Faculty of Life Sciences, University College London (UCL), UK. He has worked for over 30 years on placental and fetal development and on the diagnosis and management of placental-related complications of pregnancy. He is an internationally renowned authority on the physiology of early pregnancy and the pathophysiology of miscarriage and accreta placentation. He is the author/co-author of over 500 peer-reviewed research, clinical, and basic science original articles and reviews, and editor/co-editor of 14 books and textbooks, including Embryonic Medicine & Therapy with Sir Bob Edwards (Nobel Prize in Medicine 2010). He has been the coordinator of the FIGO guidelines on the diagnosis and management of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders and classification (IJGO Mar 2018), and he is the lead developer of the 2019 and 2026 RCOG GTG27a on placenta praevia and placenta accreta and RCOG GTG27b on vasa praevia. He has been a member of the ISUOG Outreach Committee since 2024. In 2006, he co-founded Medical Aid Films (MAF), a UK-registered charity [no 1121578] to provide multi-media programs for education and training, including basic ultrasound examination for limited resource health care systems (www.medicalaidfilms.org).

Dr Robert de Leeuw , MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Gynaecologist specializing in minimally invasive surgery at Amsterdam University Medical Centre (Amsterdam UMC), primarily based at the VUmc location. His clinical practice focuses on complex benign gynaecology, where he holds leadership positions as the Head of the Amsterdam Neuropelveology Centre and Deputy Head of the Endometriosis Centre. Dr Ana Monteagudo is a highly distinguished Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist and educator based in New York City, currently serving as a Professor of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. With a career spanning over 40 years, she has established herself as a leading authority in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. Before her current role, she spent 17 years as a full-time faculty member and Professor at New York University (NYU), where she held several leadership positions, including Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Director of the OBGYN Ultrasound unit.

Her clinical expertise is focused on advanced foetal imaging, with a particular emphasis on foetal neurosonography. Dr Monteagudo is internationally recognised for her work in diagnosing complex abnormalities of the foetal central nervous system and brain anatomy. Her research and practice also cover early pregnancy assessments, including first-trimester anatomical surveys and the diagnosis of caesarean scar pregnancies. She is an expert in utilizing 3D ultrasonography and transvaginal sonography to manage high-risk and multifetal pregnancies.

Dr Monteagudo’s academic foundations began at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree in 1982. She later completed her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Beyond her clinical work, she is a prolific author of major medical textbooks and peer-reviewed articles. Her professional contributions extend to leadership roles in the medical community, having served on the Board of Governors for the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

She is involved in the teaching activities for the Medical School, the Ob-Gyne Residency training, the Midwifery School, and the School of Nursing. Prof. Jan E.U. Persson, MD, PhD, is a prominent Swedish Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a senior consultant at Skåne University Hospital in Lund. He is widely recognized for his leadership in gyneoncological surgery and his pioneering work in integrating advanced technology into clinical practice. His academic career at Lund University has focused on improving surgical outcomes and diagnostic accuracy for women with gynaecological cancers. 

A major focus of his professional career is the development and implementation of minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Since 2005, he has served as the Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Lund University Hospital and is the headmaster of the Practicum Robotic School. In the research field, Dr Persson is an expert in sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping, particularly for endometrial and cervical cancers. His work often utilizes Indocyanine green (ICG) tracers and anatomically based algorithms to accurately identify metastatic disease while minimizing surgical complications. His extensive body of research, including over 100 publications, has significantly influenced how lymphatic staging is performed in modern gynaecological oncology.
