Overview

Prof. Suresh Seshadri is the Director of MediScan systems Diagnostic Ultrasound, Fetal Medicine and training Centre in Chennai, Tamil Nadu INDIA. The Centre was started in 1982 and is a tertiary referral centre for Prenatal diagnosis and Fetal Therapy.

He is also a Professor of Practice at the department of Medical Science, IIT Madras. His special interests include Fetal interventions, teaching ultrasound and Fetal Medicine, Device development for use in ultrasound training, developing fetal databases for ultrasound reporting including Birth defects registry and artificial intelligence. He is a visiting Professor in Perinatology in the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research in Chennai and The PSG institute of Higher Education Coimbatore. He is actively working for standardization of Obstetric Ultrasound through implementation of the ISUOG basic training across the country. Dr Suresh also is the CEO of the Voluntary Health Services Multispecialty Hospital, a public charity where he actively strives to provide affordable health care to the community. He is a Trustee of the Fetal Care Research Foundation, which helps the underprivileged and provides preventive, supportive and curative care for birth defects and rare disorders. He strongly believes that the best of medical technology should be available for the common man. His other interests include Nature and wildlife photography and Amateur radio.

Dr Prashant Acharya is a consultant in fetal medicine and high risk obstetric care at Paras advanced center for fetal medicine, Ahmedabad, India. He is an honorary sonologist and fetal medicine consultant at the NHL municipal medical college & KM school of post graduate medical studies, affiliated to Gujarat University. Ligita Jokubkiene is an associate professor at Lund university, Sweden and senior consultant in obstetrics and gynecology at the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology, at Skane University Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Malmö, Swede. She has defended her thesis with the title ”Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries” in 2012. Currently she is an active researcher leading several research projects with focus on ultrasound diagnostics in gynecology, particularly on endometriosis, pelvic floor birth-related injuries and pelvic pain. She is also participating in international multicenter studies lead by IOTAnstudying ovarian masses. Ligita Jokubkiene is supervising master and PhD students.

Ligita Jokubkiene organizes and leads national and international courses on ultrasound diagnostics from basic to advanced level. She has been an invited speaker at many international courses and congresses. Ligita Jokubkiene is a chair of Educational courses subcommittee at ISUOG (International Society of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology). She is also a chair of the Ultrasound reference group at Swedish Society of Obstetrics and gynecology in Sweden.

Prof. Asma Khalil is a Professor of Fetal Medicine. She is the Obstetric Lead at the National Maternity and Perinatal Audit (NMPA). She gained her MD at the University of London in 2008.   

Prof. Asma Khalil has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers, and many published review articles and chapters. She was awarded many research prizes, both at national and international meetings. She was awarded the 2021 FIGO Women's Awards: Recognising Female Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her research interests include twin pregnancy, congenital infections, fetal growth restriction and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.  

She had a fellowship with the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).  committed to the implementation of clinical guidelines in practice. She is the Lead author of the ISUOG guideline on the role of ultrasound in twins and congenital infections. She also led the guideline team developing the FIGO guideline on twin pregnancies. She was a member of the NICE Guideline Committee updating the Twin and Multiple Pregnancy guidance.  

Dr. Ashok Khurana commenced his medical studies at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India in 1975, and, after completing his MBBS went on to do a post graduate (MD) degree in Radiology which he completed in 1984. During this period he had the unique experience of establishing the ultrasound services at this premier institution under the guidance of Prof. Sneh Bhargava who is widely regarded as the “guru” of contemporary medical imaging in India. It was during this time that he also had the opportunity to train at the ultrasound department of the Herlev Hospital in Denmark under the tutelage of Prof. Hans Henrik Holm, a pioneer in ultrasound technology and its medical applications. Dr Gowrishankar Paramasivam is currently the Director of Chennai Fetal Care in India. His most reent employment includes working as Senior Staff Specialist in fetal medicine at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital (Imperial College Health Care NHS Truste) London. His academic employments include: Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London; Adjunct Faculty at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, India; and Visiting Faculty at Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRIHER) in Chennai, India. Upon completion of postgraduate training in radiology, Dr Paramasivam moved to the UK in 2004 to pursue specialist training in fetal medicine and fetal interventions. He was trained by Prof. Kypros Nicolaides at the world-renowned Harris Birth Right Research Centre, Kings College Hospital and successfully obtained Diploma in Fetal Medicine. Dr Paramasivam also obtained RCOG/RCR Advanced Ultrasound Diploma in Obstetric Ultrasound and is also accredited by EBCOG (European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and EAPM (European Association of Perinatal Medicine) for training in fetal medicine. Dr Paramasivam is trained by Prof. Mary Rutherford (Imperial College London) to interpret and report fetal MRI. He was awarded MD (Res) by Imperial College London for his study on 'Prelabour assessment of fetal cardiac function'. He has also worked and collaborated with international experts in the field of fetal medicine and has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit. Dr Prathima Radhakrishnan is the Director of Bangalore Fetal Medicine Centre (BFMC) and FGi Fetal Care Units (FFCU), the latter being a chain of clinics caring for the fetus across the city and nearby towns which perform highly specialised Obstetric scans and procedures.  She is the first Indian to get Diploma in Fetal Medicine from Fetal Medicine Foundation, UK in February 2011. She is also the first to perform Therapeutic Fetoscopic Laser for complicated monochorionic twin pregnancy in the country. Dr Prathima’s passion for the fetus has made BFMC one of the leading centres for tertiary level fetal care and a premiere education and training centre for doctors desiring to specialise in Fetal Medicine and Genetics in India. Dr. Selvaraj Ravi Lakshmy is Consultant and Director of Shri Lakshmi Clinic and Scan Centre, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.
