Join us on Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October 2026 for our 2 day advanced livestreamed education course on 'Fetal brain' led by Prof. Simon Meagher and Prof. Karina Haratz and our panel of dedicated international experts.

This intensive course offers a comprehensive and up-to-date exploration of the role of ultrasound in the assessment of the fetal brain and central nervous system, delivered by an international faculty of leading experts. Participants will enhance their understanding of fetal neuroanatomy, normal brain development, and the application of ultrasound in the detection, characterisation, and management of congenital anomalies of the fetal central nervous system.

The programme covers key topics including systematic evaluation of the fetal brain, detailed neurosonography, assessment of the ventricles, posterior fossa, corpus callosum, and spine, as well as the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of common and complex intracranial abnormalities. It also explores emerging techniques, advances in imaging protocols, and current best practice recommendations. Through expert-led case discussions, interactive sessions, and practical insights, delegates will gain confidence in applying ultrasound to improve diagnostic accuracy and support timely, effective prenatal counselling and management.

Integrating foundational principles with real-world clinical challenges, this course provides evidence-based guidance relevant to everyday practice in fetal medicine and prenatal diagnosis.

This course is ideal for obstetricians, fetal medicine specialists, radiologists, sonographers, midwives, genetic counsellors, and healthcare professionals involved in prenatal imaging and fetal care.

Learning objectives:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of fetal brain anatomy, normal neurodevelopment, and the sonographic appearance of intracranial structures throughout gestation.
Apply advanced ultrasound techniques to perform systematic evaluation of the fetal brain, including detailed assessment of the ventricles, posterior fossa, corpus callosum, and spine.
Identify and differentiate common and complex fetal central nervous system abnormalities, and interpret ultrasound findings to support accurate diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
Demonstrate knowledge of the role of neurosonography in prenatal counselling, further investigation, and multidisciplinary management of suspected fetal brain anomalies.
Integrate evidence-based ultrasound approaches into clinical practice to enhance diagnostic accuracy, facilitate timely referral, and optimise outcomes for both mother and baby.

Trainees/residents and sonographers/radiographers

Proof of status: All trainees, residents, sonographers and radiographers will need to submit proof of their trainee, resident, sonographer or radiographer status by way of a letter from their Department or Institution. The letter must be in English and dated within the last 3 months. The document can be uploaded at the time of registering or sent by email to [email protected].

Sonographer definition: A sonographer is a non-physician medical imaging professional who performs diagnostic medical sonography, or diagnostic ultrasound.

Trainee/resident definition: A trainee is a medical professional who is not yet fully qualified or practicing without supervision within their chosen specialty and in accordance with the relevant national regulatory authorities; a resident is in residency training which leads to specially or subspecialty) certification.

Low resource country discount

Prof. Simon Meagher (Australia) ISUOG Trustee

Dr Simon Meagher is consultant sonologist at the Perinatal department, Mercy Hospital for Women, Melbourne. He also serves as Medical Director of Monash Ultrasound for Women where he oversees a team of 50 sonologists, sonographers, genetic counsellors, phlebotomists and administrative staff in delivering a tertiary level ultrasound service across south east Melbourne. Dr Meagher has dedicated 30 years of his term as Medical Director, teaching and lecturing in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound both locally and overseas. He has delivered over 800 lectures, across 17 countries, and 43 cities worldwide. In 2015, he was awarded ‘Sonologist of The Year’ by the Australian society of Ultrasound in medicine (ASUM) in recognition of his teaching skills and his commitment to hands on training within the hospital setting at the Mercy Hospital for Women and for his commitment and contributions to ASUM.

His interest in clinical research has focussed on early pregnancy screening and diagnosis he has published over 100 articles in peer review journals, including 15 articles in the last 3 years focusing on first trimester pregnancy screening and diagnosis. Dr Meagher has described five original sonographic fetal markers during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy. He is now focusing his interest on aneuploidy and embryo development from seven to 10 weeks as we approach the dawn of a new era of genetic screening via free fetal DNA analysis.

Dr Meagher has taken on multiple leadership positions - early in his career as the Chair of the Standards of Practice Committee at ASUM, examiner and executive board member for the ASUM Diploma of diagnostic ultrasound and later as council member of ASUM. Thereafter he served as Chairman of the Victoria Obstetric Sonologists group and on several ISUOG Sub-Committees at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound.

Dr Karina Krajden Haratz (Israel) Scientific Committee member

Dr Haratz is a Senior Physician, Division of Ultrasound in ObGyn at Lis Maternity Hospital, Tel Aviv Sourasky medical center. She has earned a MD degree in 2004 from the Federal University of Parana, Brazil and a Title of Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2006. Since then Dr Krajden Haratz has maintained a lively medical practice as Senior Physician in Hospitals and Private Practice. Further she specialized in Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fetal Medicine and earned Title of Specialist in both areas, from the Brazilian Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics – FEBRASGO. Her Fellowship in Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Neurology was under the auspices Prof. Gustavo Malinger at Wolfson Medical Center, Holon Israel. After her aliyah she completed the requirements and earned a Title of Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Israeli Medical Association.

Does ISUOG offer certificates of attendance for education courses?

Yes, ISUOG offers certificates of attendance for our education courses. Please note the ISUOG certificate of attendance will be available for one year after a course.

Does ISUOG offer CME certificates for education courses?

Education courses with CME accreditation will be clearly highlighted on the webpage, please check the course webpage for all information and updates on this.

Please note the CME certificate will be available for one month after the live event day of the course. After one month registered delegates will only be able to download their ISUOG certificate of attendance.

If CME is not clearly advertised then the course has no accreditation attributed to it.

How do I download my certificate?

Following a course registered delegates will receive an email with a link to submit an evaluation form. After completing the evaluation form, registered delegates will be redirected to their certificate, which can be filled in before downloading. Please be sure to download your certificate before exiting the survey.

Am I able to cancel my registration?

Cancellation of a registration must be communicated via email to [email protected]. Verbal changes of cancellation are not accepted. For cancellations confirmed 1 month before the course date, there will be a £30 charge applied to the registration fee which will be deducted at the time of refund. Membership fees are non-refundable. Please note the refund will be returned via the same payment method as the original receipt of funds. Refunds will not be given for no-shows. For cancellations confirmed when there is 1 month less before the course, there will be no refunds and attendees will incur a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the registration fees.
