Overview

Professor Badreldeen is the Director of the Feto Maternal Medicine Centre in Doha and is a Professor of Obstetrics at Weill Cornell Medical College – Qatar. He previously held the position of Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women’s Hospital, part of Hamad Medical Corporation, for ten years. Prior to moving to Qatar, Professor Badreldeen was also a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist (with special interest in perinatal medicine and high-risk pregnancy) at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, UK. 

Professor Badreldeen is a founding member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG), a board member of the World Association of Prenatal Medicine, founder and president of the African Association of Perinatal Medicine, Founder of the Fellowship Program in Advanced Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, board member of the Fetus As the Patient Society, founding member of the Academy of Medical Educators, and the Regional Director of the Ian Donald School of Medical Ultrasound. 

Professor Badreldeen has also published over 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is editor of the ‘Basic Book of Ultrasound In Obstetrics and Gynecology’. He has written many chapters in several books, acts as a reviewer for many international journals, and gets invited to speak at many international events. 

He specializes in the management of severe IUGR, of fetal anaemia, fetal echocardiography in high risk pregnancies and fetal anomalies. 

Ligita Jokubkiene is an associate professor at Lund university, Sweden and senior consultant in obstetrics and gynecology at the Department of Obstetrics and gynecology, at Skane University Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Malmö, Swede. She has defended her thesis with the title ”Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries” in 2012. Currently she is an active researcher leading several research projects with focus on ultrasound diagnostics in gynecology, particularly on endometriosis, pelvic floor birth-related injuries and pelvic pain. She is also participating in international multicenter studies lead by IOTAnstudying ovarian masses. Ligita Jokubkiene is supervising master and PhD students.

Ligita Jokubkiene organizes and leads national and international courses on ultrasound diagnostics from basic to advanced level. She has been an invited speaker at many international courses and congresses. Ligita Jokubkiene is a chair of Educational courses subcommittee at ISUOG (International Society of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology). She is also a chair of the Ultrasound reference group at Swedish Society of Obstetrics and gynecology in Sweden.

Prof. Asma Khalil is a Professor of Fetal Medicine. She is the Obstetric Lead at the National Maternity and Perinatal Audit (NMPA). She gained her MD at the University of London in 2008.   

Prof. Asma Khalil has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers, and many published review articles and chapters. She was awarded many research prizes, both at national and international meetings. She was awarded the 2021 FIGO Women's Awards: Recognising Female Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Her research interests include twin pregnancy, congenital infections, fetal growth restriction and hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.  

She had a fellowship with the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE).  committed to the implementation of clinical guidelines in practice. She is the Lead author of the ISUOG guideline on the role of ultrasound in twins and congenital infections. She also led the guideline team developing the FIGO guideline on twin pregnancies. She was a member of the NICE Guideline Committee updating the Twin and Multiple Pregnancy guidance.  

Dr Simon Meagher is consultant sonologist at the Perinatal department, Mercy Hospital for Women, Melbourne. He also serves as Medical Director of Monash Ultrasound for Women where he oversees a team of 50 sonologists, sonographers, genetic counsellors, phlebotomists and administrative staff in delivering a tertiary level ultrasound service across south east Melbourne. Dr Meagher has dedicated 30  years of his term as Medical Director, teaching and lecturing in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound both locally and overseas. He has delivered over 800 lectures, across 17 countries, and 43 cities worldwide. In 2015, he was awarded ‘Sonologist of The Year’ by the Australian society of Ultrasound in medicine (ASUM) in recognition  of his teaching skills and his commitment to  hands on training within the hospital setting at the Mercy Hospital for Women and for  his commitment and contributions to ASUM.

His interest in clinical research has focussed on early pregnancy screening and diagnosis he has published over 100  articles in peer review journals, including 15 articles  in the last 3 years focusing on first trimester  pregnancy screening and diagnosis. Dr Meagher has described five original sonographic fetal markers during the first and second trimesters of pregnancy. He is now focusing his interest on aneuploidy and embryo development from  seven to 10 weeks as we approach the dawn of a new era of genetic screening via free fetal DNA analysis.  

Dr Meagher has taken on multiple leadership positions - early in his career as the Chair of the Standards of Practice Committee at ASUM, examiner and executive board member for the ASUM Diploma of diagnostic ultrasound and later as council member of ASUM. Thereafter he served as Chairman of the Victoria Obstetric Sonologists group and on several  ISUOG Sub-Committees  at the  International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound.

Dr. Mouza Al Salmani is a Senior Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine and Head of the Fetal Medicine Unit at the Royal Hospital, Muscat. She previously served as Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Royal Hospital from 2016 to August 2021.

She earned her medical degree from Sultan Qaboos University in 1999 and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Royal Hospital. In 2006, she obtained her MRCOG from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London). She later pursued advanced training in fetal medicine, completing a Diploma and Fellowship at the Harris Birthright Research Centre, King’s College Hospital, London, in 2011, and was awarded the FRCOG in June 2019.

Dr. Mouza has played a pioneering role in advancing fetal medicine in Oman. She was the first to introduce therapeutic in-utero procedures in the country, including fetal blood transfusion and fetoscopic laser surgery. She has also contributed extensively to clinical research, with several publications focusing on high-risk pregnancies and fetal medicine.

Her leadership extends to education and training. She has served as a senior clinical trainer at the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) and was the local organizer of the MRCOG examinations in Oman from 2012 to 2018. She is the founder and current chair of the Oman Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OSUOG) and has been instrumental in organizing the annual national ultrasound workshops.

Her contributions have earned wide recognition, including official commendations from the Royal Hospital (2015) and the Ministry of Health (2016) for outstanding performance. She is actively engaged in multiple hospital, national, and regional committees, including the National Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Committee and the Higher Medical Committee as a technical scientific expert for medico-legal investigations.

Internationally, Dr. Mouza is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG). She played a central role in bringing the ISUOG outreach training program to Oman (2017–2021) and, in 2023, was appointed ISUOG Ambassador to the Middle East as well as a member of the ISUOG Outreach Committee.

Dr Leanne Bricker undertook undergraduate training in South Africa and moved to the UK where she specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and then subspecialised (fellowship) in Fetal and Maternal Medicine. For 10 years she was Co-Director of the Fetal Medicine Unit of Liverpool Women's Hospital, UK, the largest single site women's hospital in Britain. She served on the executive committee of the British Maternal and Fetal Medicine Society from 2009-2014.

She moved to Abu Dhabi in February 2014 to become Chair of Fetal Medicine at Corniche Hospital. In 2018 she also took on the role of Chairing the Medical Imaging Department at Corniche Hospital.  She has been actively involved in research and has published over 60 papers, abstracts and book chapters and books. She is a Cochrane review author for the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group. She is an expert in the management of multiple pregnancy having led the tertiary level multidisciplinary multiple pregnancy service in Liverpool; been involved in the development of the UK NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) guidelines and quality standards for the management of multiple pregnancy and the RCOG green top guidelines for the management of monochorionic twin pregnancy; and recently published textbook Management of Multiple Pregnancies: A Practical Guide (Cambridge University Press).

 Dr Bricker leads the foremost fetal medicine service providing a wide range of fetal therapy in the UAE and has introduced advanced fetal therapeutic techniques at Corniche Hospital including fetal blood transfusions, fetoscopic laser treatment for the rare complication twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, fetal shunts and FETO (fetal tracheal balloons). Dr Bricker is Chair of the OBGYN Service Line and Network at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company.​

An internationally recognized expert in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Prof. Karim has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and contributed to 15 book chapters. He has delivered over 100 scientific lectures and 300+ teaching lectures, regularly invited to speak at prestigious medical conferences globally.

Prof. Mohamed Kamal Etman trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ain Shams University, where he later subspecialized in Fetal Medicine. He currently serves as a Full Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fetal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Fayoum University, Egypt, and as a Consultant in Fetal Medicine and High-Risk Obstetric Care. Previously, he was a Consultant in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit at Ain Shams University Hospital, where he was actively involved in the implementation of evidence-based clinical guidelines.

Prof. Etman is the Founder and President of the Egyptian Fetal Medicine Foundation (EFMF) and the Director of the ISUOG Outreach Program in Egypt. He also obtained his medical degree and completed his residency training at Ain Shams University. Additionally, he was a Visiting Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound and Fetal Echocardiography in the Department of Radiology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, Pennsylvania, USA.

Since 2017, Prof. Etman has organized and led numerous ISUOG-endorsed Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics Ultrasound workshops, training hundreds of healthcare practitioners across Egypt and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He has also conducted ISUOG Basic Training courses in Sudan, Libya, and several other MENA countries, contributing to the advancement of ultrasound education and capacity building in the region.

As an active ISUOG Ambassador to the MENA region, Prof. Etman has delivered multiple ISUOG-approved courses, encouraging hundreds of physicians to join and engage with ISUOG. He was also the Organizer and Chair of ISUOG’s 16th International Symposium held in Cairo, Egypt.

Prof. Justin Konje is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Weill Cornell Medicine Qatar and Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Leicester UK. Prior to joining the Feto Maternal Centre, he worked at Sidra Medicine initially as Division Chief of Research in the Women’s Services and then as Executive Chairman of the Women’s Clinical Services Management Group. He was consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester for 16 years where he was Director of Feto-Maternal Services for 10 years and led the Endometriosis and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss Service for 12 years.

His areas of interest include high risk pregnancies (including diabetes), fetal medicine, endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain, recurrent pregnancy loss, menstrual problems, endocrine problems related to female reproduction and family planning.

He is a passionate teacher and has published over 200 peer review papers and several textbooks. He is a member of various international societies and editor to several journals.
