For Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025, ISUOG is shedding light on the impact of congenital heart disease (CHD) on infant mortality rates across the globe.

The theme of Baby Loss Awarenes Week, 9-15 October 2025, is 'Together we care'. Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together to remember and commemorate much-loved and missed babies.

At ISUOG, we focus on early diagnosis to ensure families are better protected against the loss of a child. CHD is a leading cause of infant death across the globe but is preventable with early detection. Our global initiative #EveryLittleHeartMatters highlights how ultrasound technology can save young lives with early diagnosis of CHD within the pre-natal period.

Research from ISUOG's journal, Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (UOG) demonstrates that the risk of pregnancy loss is higher in cases with major fetal CHD compared with the general population. Improved understanding of the incidence, risk factors and timing of pregnancy loss in CHD cases should inform patient counseling, antenatal surveillance and delivery planning.
