As 2025 comes to a close, we reflect on the great success the ISUOG podcast has achieved in 2025 and highlight the episodes you may have missed from the second half of the year.
The ISUOG Podcast saw a 15% increase in audience from last year, with the total new audience increasing by 522%. Our total followers went up by 81%, with a 19% increase in total listening time when compared to 2024. We also ranked as the number one podcast for 113 of our listeners.
If there’s one episode you must not miss from this year, it has to be our recent one, ‘Fetal cardiologist and parent perspectives: #EveryLittleHeartMatters’ – a discussion between Prof. Fatima Crispi and one of her former patients Ares Alma. As part of ISUOG’s global initiative that raises awareness of the importance of early detection of congenital heart defects, this episode provides an all-encompassing understanding of what it’s like to diagnose a patient and to be on the receiving end of the diagnosis – making for a highly insightful listen for both doctors and sonographers. This is the first time we have had a patient voice on the ISUOG Podcast but hopefully there will be more of this to come in 2026.
As a global organisation, it is an important part of ISUOG’s mission to reach as many countries around the world as possible. And in 2025 our podcast’s audience spanned 80 countries – the top countries were Italy, Australia, Mexico, United Kingdom and Brazil. And the podcast hosted voices of clinicians from many different cultural contexts and nations including Brazil, UK, Spain, Chile, Canada, USA, Japan and others.
Back in the summer, we had a thought-provoking episode on ‘Validating women's health concerns and the value of sonographers’, featuring A/Prof. Mathew Leonardi, endometriosis expert and NGen Committee member in a discussion with sonographer and influencer Natalie Avni. This episode shone a light on the importance of the relationship between doctors and sonographers in the process of scanning and diagnosing patients.
In July, ‘In dialogue with NGen and a fetal neurosonography expert’ featured Dr Long Nguyen-Hoang, a member of the ISUOG NGen Committee and maternal-fetal specialist, alongside ISUOG Trustee and neurosonography expert, Prof. Ritsuko Kimata Pooh. In this episode, the two discuss a range of topics including Prof. Pooh's journey within the field of prenatal diagnostics, a topic considered taboo in Japan, and a field dominated by men.
We would like to thank all of our contributors who helped make the amazing educational podcasts of 2025, and all of our listeners for tuning in and sharing. We have another Every Little Heart Matters podcast episode that will go live at the start of the new year so follow us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts to stay up to date.
