Once again, ISUOG is thrilled at the success of Ultrasound Essentials, which took place last month from 23-24 January 2026, in collaboration with the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF).
By the end of the live event, we reached 7,112 registrations from professionals in low-resource countries across the world, providing them with essential ultrasound knowledge and key skills for their everyday practice. The registration number continues to rise post-event, with many who couldn’t attend the sessions live accessing the content on-demand.
Over the past five years, Ultrasound Essentials has become a cornerstone event in the ISUOG calendar, providing meaningful outreach year after year. It plays a leading part in ISUOG’s mission to improve women’s health through the provision, advancement and dissemination of the highest quality education, standards and research around ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as FMF’s mission to improve the health of pregnant women and their babies through research and training.
The free livestreamed event, chaired by some of the world’s best experts in obstetrics and gynecology, was attended by specialists and trainees spanning multiple regions across the globe. Nigeria, Ghana, Peru, South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Colombia, Pakistan, Ecuador and Ukraine were the top 10 countries in terms of attendees.
Some of the most popular topics were pre-eclampsia, ovarian masses, fetal growth restriction, labor, and AI.
Here is what some of the delegates had to say about the event:
“This was an excellent and professionally run event. The topics were timely and well presented, and the discussions were interactive and thought-provoking. I left feeling more confident, motivated, and better equipped in my field. I would highly recommend this event to others.”
“I look forward to the course every year. I have attended three already.”
“The ISUOG and FMF Ultrasound Essentials 2026 programme exceeded my expectations in both academic rigor and practical relevance. The sessions were expertly delivered, aligned with current international standards, and directly applicable to day-to-day clinical practice. The integration of FMF principles with ISUOG guidelines provided a robust framework for high-quality ultrasound assessment. I would strongly recommend this course to clinicians seeking to enhance their competence and confidence in ultrasound practice.”
“This course strengthened my fundamentals in ultrasound with clear explanations and clinically relevant examples. It was extremely useful for day-to-day practice in low-resource countries like Nepal. Thanks to the whole team.”
You can access the 2026 Ultrasound Essentials final report here for more information on the success of the event.
If you are located in a low-resource country (including South Africa and Iran), you can still register for free, for full on-demand access to this two-day event. Recordings will be available for all registered delegates until 24 July 2026 at 23:59 BST.
ISUOG is grateful for the support of GE HealthCare, the sole sponsor of Ultrasound Essentials 2026.
