Its combination of history, international connections and contemporary urban life makes it an inspiring setting for delegates from around the world to meet, connect and exchange ideas.
Getting to Lisbon
Arriving by plane
Lisbon is served by Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Airport), which offers international and domestic flight connections. The airport is approximately 12 km from the Lisbon Congress Centre (CCL).
Travellers can reach the city using public transport, including the Metro and buses, or by taxi and app-based transport services. The airport's Metro station provides a connection to central Lisbon, while Gare do Oriente offers rail connections to destinations across Portugal.
Delegates are encouraged to check their flight arrangements and onward transport options before travelling.
Arriving by train
For delegates who wish to come by train, Lisbon is connected to destinations across Portugal by rail. Gare do Oriente is one of the city's principal railway stations, with connections to other parts of the country.
Delegates travelling from elsewhere in Europe should check the available international rail connections and onward travel arrangements to Lisbon before departure.

Visas
It is your own responsibility to check and fulfil any visa requirements for entry into Portugal and any other countries you may travel through on your way to the Congress. ISUOG strongly advises attendees to register for the World Congress only once they are confident that they can legally enter Portugal or will be able to obtain the necessary visa in time for their visit. Please check the official Portuguese government website and the relevant Portuguese embassy or consulate for the latest entry requirements and visa application guidance.
Portugal is part of the Schengen Area. Depending on their nationality, residence status, travel documents and reason for visiting, delegates may need a short-stay Schengen visa or may be eligible to travel without one. Visa-free travel is subject to the applicable entry conditions and permitted length of stay.
For delegates who require a visa, applications should be submitted well in advance of travel. The Portuguese government states that short-stay Schengen visa applications can generally be submitted up to six months before the intended visit and should normally be submitted at least 15 days before travel. Applicants should confirm the requirements and appointment availability with the relevant consulate.
