Davor Jurkovic is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Director of Gynaecology Diagnostic and Outpatient Treatment Unit at University College Hospital London.  His main clinical and academic interest is the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of early pregnancy and gynaecological abnormalities.  He has pioneered the use of colour Doppler in gynaecology and early pregnancy as well as the use of three-dimensional ultrasound for the diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies. He has published more than 250 papers in the international peer review journals and has edited five books on gynaecological ultrasound. Read more.

Dr. Tejal Amin is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK. Her main specialist interests include early pregnancy and gynaecological ultrasound (benign and malignant conditions), emergency/ambulatory gynaecology and complex benign gynaecological surgery. Dr. Amin completed a 3-year clinical research fellowship in advanced gynaecological ultrasound with Prof. Davor Jurkovic, and was awarded an MD (Res). Her thesis was entitled “Ultrasound studies of the uterine venous circulation” and reported unique findings such as pelvic vein thrombosis and establishing diagnostic criteria for pelvic venous diameters. She has been involved in novel research in the areas of intrauterine adhesions, ectopic pregnancy and endometrial cancer.

Dr. Amin is a passionate advocate for the importance of high-quality ultrasound in early pregnancy/ gynaecological care and improving access to “hands-on” ultrasound training. She regularly lectures on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ultrasound courses as well as organising in-house training at her base hospital. Dr. Amin continues to be actively involved in clinical research and is currently co-Principal Investigator on a project investigating intra-uterine factors for recurrent miscarriage.

Prof. Thierry Van den Bosch defended his PhD in 2007 on the diagnosis of endometrial disease. His clinical research focuses on the diagnosis of endometrial and myometrial pathology, endometriosis and fertility exploration. He has published over 150 papers and has been over 100 times invited speaker at international conferences in English, Dutch and French.

He completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the KU Leuven (Belgium) and at the University of Pretoria (South Africa). In 1992 he was appointed consultant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Unit of Gynecologic Oncology, of the University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Hospital (South-Africa). In 1994 he moved back to Belgium. He worked as gynecologist at the Regional Hospital RZ Tienen, consultant UZ Leuven and KU Leuven and became the Head of department in RZ Tienen.

He currently works at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University Hospital UZ Leuven, at the Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven, and is Senior Clinical Investigator of the Scientific Research Fund (FWO) Flanders, Belgium.

Conrad von Stempel is a consultant interventional vascular and uroradiologist. He graduated from UCL medical school with an additional BSc in anatomy and developmental biology.

Conrad completed his core radiology training at UCH, and after gaining the FRCR, a 2-year fellowship in interventional radiology at the Royal Free Hospital.

He specialises in vascular and urological interventional radiology procedures including angioplasty, complex venous access, and embolisation therapy including prostate artery embolisation (PAE).

Conrad also works as an interventional radiologist at the Royal Free hospital. He enjoys teaching and lectures in imaging, anatomy and embryology at UCH and Keble college, Oxford University.

He started a surgical career path but developed his interest in radiology when completing his MD utilising MRI to assess the response of colorectal liver metastases to a novel therapeutic agent. Having trained predominantly in Leicester, he completed a specialist GI imaging fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital, London, with a focus on intestinal failure, CT colonography and complex colorectal cancer before returning to Leicester.

He has active research interests in bowel imaging and radiology quality assurance. He is a BSGAR committee member and audit lead, is a co-opted member of NICE and on the ASGBI working group revising the High Risk General Surgical Patient report.  He has lectured extensively on imaging in Gastrointestinal disease and runs a number of renowned national training courses and is Head of Undergraduate Radiology at the University of Leicester.
