The International Day of Action for Women’s Health is commemorated each year on 28 May to advocate for women's health and rights, especially reproductive health. To this day, women face a multitude of challenges when it comes to their access to quality healthcare, an issue that ISUOG continues to address year after year.

As a global organisation ISUOG’s long-term vision is that every woman in the world has access to ultrasound, that every scan provider is competent and that the diagnosis of obstetric and gynecologic conditions is effective, so that women’s health outcomes improve across the globe.

Through outreach projects and free or discounted courses for people in lower-resource settings, ISUOG provides access to essential education that trains professionals with the essential skills they need to provide life-changing care to communities in need.

Addressing the gender health gap helps to lessen maternal mortalities and long-term health issues and improve overall wellbeing.

As such, an important thing to advocate for within women’s health, is of course the representation of women in the field of medicine. The ISUOG podcast has an episode, In dialogue with women in medicine, that highlights this. Listen to it via Spotify or Apple podcasts.

Our diverse Congress program acknowledges the complex challenges facing women across the world – with a plenary session exploring practising medicine in some of world’s most inhospitable places. Access the program overview.
