The ultrasound appearance of the adnexae of the uterus varies according to the age and the reproductive status of the female whether pre-menarchal, reproductive age or post-menopausal. The Fallopian tubes when normal and in a normal pelvis, cannot be visualized by ultrasound although some ultrasound guided procedures can help in their patency assessment. Normal ovaries can be visualized by transabdominal or transvaginal 2D and 3D ultrasound displaying various morphologies.
