The mid-80s to the mid-90s was a golden age for ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology, with the maturation of anomaly scanning, and the introduction of nuchal screening, laser ablation as a potential therapy, fetal Doppler for the management of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and the use of uterine artery (UtA) Doppler for the prediction of uteroplacental complications later in the pregnancy.
